Saengerhalle
703 Heights BLVD
Houston, TX 77008
Sound Legacies: Inaugural Concert marks the beginning of a new initiative that celebrates the generational transmission of musical artistry: where teaching becomes legacy, and collaboration deepens expression. Through a rich tapestry of repertoire for voice, piano, and flute, this performance highlights the dynamic relationships between established performers and the young artists they mentor, with each work chosen to reflect the evolving lineage of musical craft and connection.
From moments of lyrical intimacy to powerful emotional weight, the program spans repertoire both beloved and rarely heard, including music by Prokofiev, Schumann, Piazzolla, Mary Howe, Hugo Wolf, and Adam Vincent Clay. Whether drawing from opera, impressionism, or contemporary reflections, each piece explores the ways in which music communicates memory, identity, and imagination across generations.
Presented through the studios of Frances Fenton (Sound Legacies), Adam Vincent Clay (HNAM), Juan Garza (The Houston Saengerbund), and Marion Russell Dickson (The Voice Conservatory), this evening offers not only a compelling concert experience, but a glimpse into the enduring legacy of mentorship and artistic growth.
