Our Mission

The Houston New Arts Movement (HNAM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit making classical and contemporary music accessible through community, creativity, and dialogue - especially in places where live music is rare.

Our Objectives

  • Foster a collaborative community of musicians and artists who engage in meaningful discussion, composition, and experimentation.

  • Deepen audience engagement through interactive performances, open dialogue, and welcoming, inclusive spaces.

  • Expand access to new music by creating comfortable, conversational environments for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Who We Are

The Houston New Arts Movement (HNAM) is a collective of musicians and artists committed to deepening engagement with classical and contemporary music. We build bridges between performers, composers, and audiences through innovative concerts, outreach, and creative collaboration. By supporting artistic risk and championing the composer-performer, we bring music to life in communities where it’s too often out of reach - reminding audiences that music isn’t just performed, it’s shared.

Our Goals

  • Present arts-market concerts that pair live music with visual art, along with performances in both traditional and unconventional venues.

  • Support living composers through premieres, calls for scores, and Composer Salon Concerts featuring open audience dialogue.

  • Reach and engage diverse audiences through interactive experiences, post-concert conversations, and accessible, community-centered events.
